 Clare has 11 golf courses ranging from world - renowned seaside links to
parkland courses, providing a variety of challenges to any handicap. Most are
playable all year round.
The 18-hole championship course at Lahinch has the "Klondyke" and the "Dell"
holes, numbered among the most famous in golf.
Doonbeg Golf Club plays along 1.5 miles of beach and dunes. The ocean is
visible from the green, fairway, or tee of 16 of the 18 holes. "Sand dunes like
you'll never see again, working hand in glove with the environmentalists."

courses in the region include, Ennis, Dromoland, Bodyke, Gort,
Woodstock, Shannon, Kilkee, Kilrush, Doonbeg, Birr, Nenagh, Roscrea and Thurles. Spanish Point has a 9 hole course, as do Portumna and Templemore.

Increasingly popular walking routes can be followed on an organised basis or
at your own pace. Walks, varying
from one day to one week, are marked out with distinctive pointers. Detailed charts and information
pamphlets are available.
Burren guided walks
Ireland's traditional preoccupation with horses and horseriding is particularly
evident throughout the Shannon Region. Trail riding and treking are available in nearby.

Surfing Doolin is a
noted surfing destination.
A break which generates Irelands biggest wave, 'Aill Na Searrach', was recently
discovered at the base off the Cliffs of Moher. The wave features in the movie
Waveriders.
Crab
Island is also a local surfing spot. There are surf schools in nearby Lahinch
& Fanore.
